Cynthia Louise Tanner

Cynthia Louise Tanner began flying with the angels on Monday, September 14, 2015 around 11 a.m. She sadly left behind her husband of nearly 18 years, David Tanner; their much loved children, Scott (Jessica) Tanner, Jonathan (Jennifer) Kocher, Caryn (Duane) Miller and Matthew (Alicia) Tanner; her brother, James (Linda) Ranck and Cort., her Buffalo family; and her living smiles, Nakahl, Aiden, Gage, Mason, Will, Ryan, Super Sam, Baby Wren and furry Bart.

Cindy’s birth on March 26, 1949 interrupted her father who was planting wheat with his team of horses. She will joyfully reunite with her parents, Clement and Betty Ranck; her sweet sister, Beverly Ann; her grandparents, Helen and Ray Ranck and Elisabeth and John O. Snoddy; her Great Aunt Madeline and Uncle John; as well as dear friends, Linda and Janet.

She graduated from Warrior Run High School in 1967 with the nicest group of gal friends ever! In 1970, she graduated from the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing and later from Bloomsburg University. Every day was a “learning experience” in her eyes.

Cindy first worked as an RN at Arlington County Hospital in VA in a surgical-respiratory unit. She returned to work at the Williamsport Hospital in the Emergency Room for 18 years during two of which she ran as a nurse-paramedic. She worked at two different Home Health and Hospice agencies for seven years and five years as a nurse care manager in the emergency room at the Evangelical Community Hospital. Her favorite position was the one she held for 11 years as an instructor at the Central Susquehanna LPN and Career Center. Cindy felt blessed by her students and patients. She knows by first-hand experience that her students made a difference to those they touched. She wishes to thank them all.

Cindy loved traveling, playing cards, watching birds, caring for her garden and flowers, seeing her grandchildren and visiting the Morgan’s cabin. Her greatest joy was kayaking on the beautiful Susquehanna. She really regrets being able to host only one Tanner Camp which she loved.

Cindy was blessed by so many beautiful souls that God placed in her pathway; Sharon x 2, Joyce, Thalia, Sue, Bev, Carol, Barb, Lilly, Dee and Sally +++. She so loved her White Deer Valley Baptist Church family as well as the Allenwood Presbyterians and Community Christian Fellowshippers. She was surrounded by wonderful neighbors and friends from St. John’s Lutheran Church. She will miss the adventures of her golf/card playing gang – she’ll surely be watching them for many reasons!

Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the White Deer Valley Baptist Church, 572 White Deer Baptist Church Rd., Allenwood, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m., with her minister, Pastor Mike Deal, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.

Cindy wishes to thank all of those who have made her life such a joy and adventure and will await you all in a better place above. In lieu of flowers, make someone smile.
