Dorothy J. (Rosasco) Prah

July 22, 1922 ~ July 1, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Dorothy J. (Rosasco) Prah, 92, of Lewisburg, passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Evangelcial Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born July 22, 1922 in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Bender) Rosasco.  Her husband of 70 years, John D. Prah, Sr., preceded her in death September 9, 2012.

Dorothy attended Patterson Park High School in Baltimore, MD.  She later worked many years at Purity Candy, Lewisburg.  Dorothy spent most of her life as a loving mother and housewife taking care of her family.  She was very proud of her Baltimore roots and heritage especially of her familial connection to the Mayor of Baltimore and Congressional Representative – Tommy D’Alesandro the father of the former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.  She enjoyed relating the culture of Baltimore in the early 20th century – the street cars, street vendors with their pony pulled carts, lamp lighters, the iconic marble steps, and small shops on each corner.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, for over 70 years.

Dorothy loved attending yard sales and collecting antiques for which she had an exceptionally keen eye.  She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and occasionally gardening but not the canning that followed. Her day was not complete without her glass of Chianti with dinner.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Helen Prah of Allenwood, James Prah and Chris Jackson of Chapel Hill, NC, and Joseph and Madeline Prah of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Mary Sholley of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren Paul, Adam, Aaron and David Prah, Daniel, Nicholas and Matthew Wagner, and Susan Williams; one step grandchild, Heath Sholley; and three great-grandchildren Ashley Wolff, Cody, and Christian Prah.   She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Rosasco of Joppa, MD.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Rose Francis; a brother, John Rosasco; and a son-in-law, Scott Sholley.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held privately in Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St. Lewisburg.
