Lorraine G. Minnich

Lorraine G. Minnich, 87, of Westmont, IL formerly of Lewisburg, PA and Binghamton, NY, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Oak Trace Nursing Home, Downers Grove, IL.

Born June 27, 1928, in Washington D.C., she was a daughter of the late Merhle E. and Susie H. (Mitchell) Groff.  On September 8, 1956, she married Joseph P. Minnich, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 7, 2009.  Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Lorraine attended Oxen Hill High School, Maryland.  Following graduation, she acquired her certificate in secretarial business.  In addition, Lorraine pursued a career in vocal music performing with the Justin Lawrie Singers in Washington D.C., as well as soloist engagements in the Mid-Atlantic States.  Lorraine met husband Joseph while performing at the Forest Inn, Eagles Mere, PA in the summer of 1954.

Lorraine made music and singing a part of her life anywhere she lived.  In addition to church choirs, she was a member of the Harmony Club, Binghamton, NY, the Buffalo Valley Singers, Lewisburg, PA and most recently the Cordia Glee Club, Westmont, IL.

Lorraine was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Clarendon Hills, IL, where she enjoyed attending and fellowshipping with family and friends.

Surviving are a son, Geoffrey D. Minnich, of Binghamton, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan E. and John G. Moorhead, of Riverside, IL; and a grandson, John "Jack" G. Moorhead; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, William P. and Jean White, of Fairhope, AL and Robert and Janice Groff, of Fairfax Station, VA.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 31st, at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second & St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, PA with the Rev. Paul Smith, officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Eagles Mere Cemetery, Eagles Mere, PA.

The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Lorraine's name be made to Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington D.C., 20077 (arthritis.org)
