Nancy Jane Horner, 71, of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at her home.
Born July 21, 1948 in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Mary Jane (Beynon) Gary. In 1985, she married Floyd I. “Pete” Horner who preceded her in death on January 9th, 2011. Together they celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Nancy was a graduate of Richland High School, Johnstown. A retired administrative assistant, she worked for many years in the Trust Department at AmeriServ Financial in Johnstown, and most recently at the Union County Treasurer’s Office in Lewisburg.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lewisburg. Nancy was also a member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182 Auxiliary and the Lewisburg Garden Club.
A thoughtful and truly kind-hearted soul, Nancy was loved by all who knew her. In 2013, she moved from Johnstown to Lewisburg to be closer to her daughter and her family.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Mark R. and Ann (Hartoon) Kessler, of Fort Collins, CO; one daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Billy Kelly, of Lewisburg; two step daughters, Karen (Horner) Kovach, of TX and Michelle (Horner) Freeman, of SC; one step son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam (Berg) Horner, of TX; one brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Rosemary Gary, of NV; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Jack Stropko, of CO; one sister-in-law, Tammy Gary, of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Melody Kessler, Allison Palmer, Jane and Lilliana Kelly; five step grandchildren, Todd Kovach, Stewart and Channing Freeman, Joshua and Tyler Horner; and three step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, George Gary and a step grandson, Jon Kovach.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, November 16th, at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 42 S. 4th St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Daniel Wilt, officiating.
A private burial will be held in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown.
