Phyllis E. Close

Phyllis E. Close, 86, of 220 Applewood Drive, Lewisburg, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

She was born February 12, 1930 in Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Smith) Oberholtzer.  Phyllis and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Close, celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death on November 29, 2008.  

Phyllis was a member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.

She was an active volunteer throughout her life in both her community and church.

Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Carol J. White, of Washington, Rev. Cecily A. Eisley, of Springville, and Christine B. and Rev. David L. Brinker, of York; two brothers, William Oberholtzer, of Lancaster and Robert Oberholtzer, of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren and  their spouses; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Kathleen Oberholtzer.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, 42 S. Third St., Lewisburg, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Mark Reisinger, officiating.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Phyllis’ name be made to Albright Care Services Benevolent Fund, 90 Maplewood Drive, Lewisburg, PA  17837.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St. Lewisburg.
