Reuben S. “Scott” Brouse, 74, of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 14, 1942 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Reuben Jr. and Mary Catherine (Crabbe) Brouse. On May 8, 1993, he married the former Carla Rebuck, who survives. Together they celebrated 23 years of marriage.

Scott was a graduate of Lewisburg High School.

He served honorably in the United States Army.

Earlier in life, Scott worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He later retired from ConAgra Foods in 2002.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewisburg.

Having a passion for trains, Scott was an avid rail fanner. He was frequently seen along the side of the road snapping pictures and then racing to the next spot for another shot. He volunteered as an engineer and conductor on the West Shore Railroad. Scott served as past president of the Central Pennsylvania National Railroad Society, where he spent much of his time working on engines, doing track work, or anything that needed to be done.

He also loved to plant a garden and make sauerkraut from the cabbage he raised.

Scott was a member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeff Brouse and his wife, Krissy, of Danville and Andrew Brouse and Caitlin, of Stanton, VA; two daughters, Lori Gass and her husband, Clyde II, of West Milton and Heidi Suprenant and her husband, Jim, of Chicago, IL; one sister, Alice VanBuskirk and her husband, Terry, of Lewisburg; and five grandchildren, Tony, Tom, Clyde, Zachary and Sophie.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Harold Edward Brouse.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to Noon Friday at Winfield Baptist Church, 330 State Route 304, Winfield, where a Funeral Service will be held at Noon with Pastor Corey Mitchell, officiating.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Central PA Chapter NRHS, P.O. Box 145, White Deer, PA 17887.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
