Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert Baumer

February 20, 1927 ~ June 24, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Robert Baumer, 88, passed away at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD on June 24, 2015.

He was born February 20, 1927 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Harry and Laura (Starks) Baumer.

Robert served honorably in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver for the former Kepler Brothers Trucking Company, Milton for many years before moving out West. His interest in life were bird watching, sightseeing, the mountains and giving little children a hard time; he would really get them going and laughing in his younger years. Robert enjoyed eating at the Fryn’ Pan; “oh how he loved that lemon pie” and he could never say no to ice cream. To put this in a nutshell, he loved life.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Baumer II, of Millmont and Joe Baumer and his wife, Helen, Winfield; and two daughters, Heidi Bowersox, of Lewisburg and Tammy Tecee and her husband Gene, of Pittsgrove, NJ; 13 grandchildren and two great grandsons.

He was predeceased by five brothers, George W., Harry T., Budd E., Kenneth L. and Joseph G. Baumer and four sisters, Mabel Baumer, in infancy, Cora L. Danowsky, Hazel E. Barner and Helen M. Hemrick.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg. A graveside service with full military honors will follow the visitation in the Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
