She was born May 2, 1925 in Palmyra, NJ, a daughter of the late G. Howard and Edna Viola (Dilks) Wentling.  On September 8, 1945 she married G. Ralph Noble, who survives.  Together they celebrated 78 years of marriage.

Jean was a 1943 graduate of Merchantville High School, where she was active and lettered in field hockey and basketball. She attended Susquehanna University, where she met her future husband.

Jean and Ralph lived in Lewisburg from March 1946 to January 1949; while Ralph finished his education at Bucknell University and Jean worked for Malcolm Clinger, Architect.

They lived and worked in New Jersey and Pennsylvania until moving to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in 1957.  While living in Michigan, Jean taught Sunday school, led a Cub Scout Den, a Girl Scout Troop and served as president of the Portage Lake Girl Scout Council.

In 1963 Jean started working for the U.S. Forest Service Forest Engineering Lab in Houghton, MI and later moved to the Washington Office of the USFS. She retired in 1986 and her and her husband moved to their retirement home in Lewisburg.

Retirement allowed for winters on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, serving as a guide and board member of the Slifer House Museum and travel in the United States and abroad.

Jean was a member of the former Lewisburg Civic Club and Thursday Bridge Club. She was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the DAR Mountain Rendezvous Chapter, Evergreen, CO and an associate member of the DAR Lycoming Chapter, Williamsport.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children, Nancy N. DeGuire and her husband, Marcel, of Colorado and Stephen R. Noble and his wife, Susan, of Florida; four grandchildren, Jeanette DeGuire, Elizabeth Mance, Claire Folk and William Noble and six great-grandchildren.
