Howard Roessler Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Howard F. Roessler announces his passing, on Saturday April 14, 2018 at the age of 83. Howard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen V. Roessler, and his children, Mary Lou Peters, Jane (Bill) Allen, and Frank (Nicci Faires) Roessler. Howard is also survived by his four grandchildren; Courtney, Daniel, William and Peri.

Howard was born November 10, 1934 in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, New York, beloved son of Howard Eugene and Madeline (Hock) Roessler. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving sister, Jean (Roessler) Martinson. On December 16, 1978, in Smithtown, New York, he married Karen Vennari, and together, they celebrated 39 years of loving marriage.

Howard was a graduate of the James Madison High School, Brooklyn, New York, and later graduated from The New York City Police Academy. He also served honorably in the United States Navy.

Howard was a detective for the New York City Police Department for over 18 years and always looked back with fondness and pride on the time he served the city of New York. After leaving Smithtown with their son, he and his wife arrived in Lewisburg in 1984. Here they made their dream become a reality by starting their own family restaurant, Vennari’s Pizza. Vennari’s has been in business for 33 years.

Howard was also a well-known theater enthusiast and was a prized member of the Community Theatre League, Smithtown, New York. Additionally, Howard was actively involved in the Lewisburg area, often performing at Central Oaks Heights.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at First Baptist Church, 51 S. 3rd St, Lewisburg where Howard was a member. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mackenzie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Winfield.
