Mary Jane Russell

Mary Jane Russell, 90, of rural Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home.

Born on June 7, 1927 in Centre County, she was a daughter of the late Clair Robert and Lydia Katherine (Snyder) Boob. On March 3, 1946, she married Thomas E. Russell and together they celebrated 33 years of marriage until his passing on October 17, 1979.

Mary formerly attended St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, rural Lewisburg.

She worked for the former Chef Boy-Ar-Dee’s, Milton, the former JPM Industry, Lewisburg and the former Milton Shoe Factory, Milton.

Mary spent her life raising and caring for her family as they always came first.  Being the matriarch of her family, she had so much joy in babysitting and caring for not only her children, but continuing generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mary also loved playing the organ.

Surviving are one son, Thomas Russell and his significant other, Linda Bishop, of Kreamer, two daughters, Carol Russell, of Lewisburg and Patricia Yost and her husband, Bernie, of New Columbia; two brothers, Fred Boob and his wife, Karen, of Aaronsburg and Charles Boob, of Millheim; three grandchildren, Christine Zettlemoyer, Carol Yost and Richard Russell; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Michael Yost, Ricky Russell, and Sean, Ryan and Eric Zettlemoyer; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five siblings, Robert, Margaret, Helen, Milton and Harry.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to Noon Tuesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral service will be held at Noon with Rev. Ken Paulhamus, of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, officiating.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Lewisburg cemetery.
