Robert E. "Bob" Ryan

Robert E. “Bob” Ryan, 95, of Lewisburg and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born November 12, 1922 in Troy, NY, son of the late S. Arthur and Helene (Farrell) Ryan.  On August 2, 1947 he married the former Mary C. Karl, who survives. Together they celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Bob graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  He retired from the former Koppers Company, Inc. after 45 years in a variety of research and development activities.

Bob was an avid photographer, struggling golfer, and erstwhile scuba diver.  Following retirement he also volunteered for 16 years at Asbury Heights in Pittsburgh.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Jan Ryan and her husband, David Fisher, of Maui, HI, Jo Ann Gladstone and her husband, Paul, of Southfield, MI, and Roberta Schwalm and her husband, Tim, of Dornsife, PA; four grandchildren, Amy Jonasson and her husband, Erik, Kevin Gladstone, and Jacob and Megan Schwalm.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one grandson, Jesse Fisher; and his sister, Jayne Carroll.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
