Thomas Hutt Miller

Thomas Hutt Miller, 85, of Lewisburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, just one week shy of his 64th wedding anniversary with wife Johanna “Annie” (Leach) Miller.

Tom was the first of his family born in America on September 13, 1933 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. His father and mother, Alexander and Helen (Hutt) Miller and brother Alex Miller, were all born in Scotland. His parents and brother preceded him in death.

Tom graduated from Bucknell University in 1955. He held many positions over his career and his strong work ethic and management skills led him to direct, manage, organize and improve the Management Information Systems of many companies. The result of Tom’s strong organization skills and high intelligence are forever woven into the IT departments of businesses around the world.

Tom was an avid reader, enjoyed sports (with his favorite team being the Pittsburgh Steelers) and enjoyed traveling - especially with family and his cherished dogs, TJ, Tillie and Duke.

Tom’s greatest passion in his life was his family. Growing up in a new country, he did not have the opportunity to get to know grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins; yet, with the help of Annie, spun a tapestry of love, acceptance and support which will continue to grow now and for generations to come.

Left to honor Tom and remember his love are Tom and Annie’s children, Karen Jay, Tom Miller (Kate Fairweather), Jim Miller and Sue (Tim) Miller; grandchildren, Heather (John) Boardman, April (Josh) Wark, Maggie (Matt) Stern, Jennie (Dallas) Reinard, Jesse Miller, Adrien Fairweather, Jean Miller, Jimmie Miller, Emily Miller, Audrey Miller, Bonny Miller and Will Miller; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Meryn, Kellan, Kinsley, Kamryn, Anna, Thomas, Casey and Crosby.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Geisinger Neuro ICU and Select Specialty Hospital for the outstanding care and support they gave to Tom and his family over the last two months.

A memorial service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg, where he has been a member. Date and time will be announced at a later date.
