William Adams Obituary

William J. Adams, 94, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, Waxahachie, TX. Bill, as he was known to friends and associates, resided at Riverwoods Retirement Community for 20 years prior to moving to Texas to live with his son and family in 2017.

Bill was born September 2, 1924, one of two sons and one daughter of the late Leon C. and Nellie M. Adams. On December 30th, 1950, he married the former Betty M. Kurtz of Shamokin, PA and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.

William graduated from Shamokin High School and was a 1950 graduate of Bucknell University, where he received a BS in mechanical engineering.

He served with honor as a commissioned officer and pilot in the United States Navy during World War II. William was qualified to fly off the Yorktown II aircraft carrier.

William worked as a mechanical engineer for Skinner Industries, and subsequently Honeywell, Inc in New Britain, CT, while residing in Middletown, CT, where he lived with his wife and two children, Cathy, and Stephen.

Bill enjoyed golf and travel. He was a member of the Masons for over 70 years and the VFW in Lewisburg. He and his wife were active members of the Beaver Memorial Methodist Church during their residence in Lewisburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sister, Louise, son, Stephen and his wife, Christy, six grandchildren, and of course his beloved dog, Bego.

Predeceased are his brother, Robert, and daughter, Cathy.

A graveside service will be held at Lewisburg Cemetery in the coming days.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
