Allen Kistler Obituary

Allen P. Kistler, 87, a longtime resident of Lewisburg, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born May 9, 1930 in Mazeppa, a son of the late Cloyd and Anna (Keefer) Kistler.  On January 1, 1954 he married the former Lorraine F. Boop and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage before her death on February 25, 2015. 

Allen served honorably in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War.  He then worked for many years as a cabinet sprayer for the former Philco/Ford, later Zenith, Watsontown, and retired as a grounds and maintenance worker at the Weis’ Estate.

Allen was a longtime member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.

He was very passionate about hunting and Beagling, and spent many years in a Beagle Club.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Perry and Lori Kistler, of Lewisburg, and David Kistler and his fiance, Elaine Michael, of Turbotville; one daughter, Joy Kistler, of Milton; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Oldt, of Milton and Gertrude Moyer, of Northumberland; six grandchildren, Chris, Brooke, Stephanie, Tonya, Jacob and Brittany; and ten great-grandchildren, Harper, Hayden, Peyton, Gabriella, Kelsey, Andreas, Stephon, Trinity, Seth and Aurora.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one daughter in infancy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Blanche and Charles Hackenberg and Charlotte and Roy Sassaman and two brothers-in-law, George Oldt and Richard Moyer.

Friends will be received from Noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with his pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions in Allen’s memory be made to Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
