Barbara H. Dunn, 89, a longtime resident of Muncy, died Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her grandson’s residence in Gilbert, Arizona.
Born September 15, 1934 in Sunbury, she was a daughter of the late Russell L. and Emily B. (Bain) Zerbe. On June 6, 1954 she married Robert Nelson Dunn. Together they shared 47 years of marriage until his death on June 21, 2001.
Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Northumberland High School. After high school, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Divine Providence Hospital for 31 years.
She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy, and was a member of the church guild. Barbara was an auxiliary member of the Roland Ritter American Legion Post 268 and the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., both of Muncy. Additionally, she was a member of the Williamsport Women’s Bowling League, as well as a member of the USS San Diego and USS San Juan Association with her husband. Barbara received the “Woodsman of the World” award in 1973 for saving a 9 year old boy via resuscitation. She was also the Divine Providence Hospital Employee of the year in 1983.
Barbara enjoyed knitting, baking, traveling, dancing with her husband, and candy making. She was also an avid bingo player and volunteered for the Susquehanna Life Center.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra Gillette, of Watsontown; one sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Norman Wenrick, of Aaronsburg; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Vicki Zerbe, of CA, Larry and Gayle Zerbe, of Harleton, Richard and Nancy Zerbe, of MD, and Edward Zerbe, of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Shawn Werner, Jim Shultz, and Bradley and Nicole Rider; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son-in-law, Robert Gillette; three brothers, Rusty, Jack and Carey Lee Zerbe; and two sisters, Joyce Lupold and Jean Sampsell.
Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date.
