Fred Johnson Obituary

Fred V. Johnson, 87, of Watsontown, died Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his daughter’s home.

He was born June 13, 1932 in Montgomery, a son of the late Abel and Frances (Bower) Johnson.  On August 7, 1953 he married the former Phyllis L. Smith, who preceded him in death on October 5, 2002. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Fred retired from the former Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz.

He loved woodworking and enjoyed fixing lawnmowers and selling them.

Most importantly, Fred cherished spending time with his family.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Pauline Johnson, of Watsontown; one daughter and son-in-law, Louella G. and David Sheatler, Sr., of Exchange; five grandchildren, David Sheatler, Jr., Melissa Schreffler and Matthew, Nathan and Ryan Johnson and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Bowersox and a companion, Shirley Guffey.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contribution’s in Fred’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
