Gary Lee Walter Sr.

Gary Lee Walter Sr., 75, of New Columbia, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at his home.

He was born July 17, 1944 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Clair and Grace (Buffington) Walter.  He married the former Dawn Marie Hilfiger, who preceded him in death on February 22, 1990.

Gary attended Lewisburg Schools.  He worked as a truck driver for many years.  He hauled milk for Dean Koch and most recently drove for Allen Voneida, before retiring.

Gary loved fishing, watching Nascar and formerly attending live wrestling events.  He was most fond of spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by four children, Angela Walter, of New Columbia, Gary Walter Jr., of Watsontown, Scott Walter Sr., of Danville, and Elizabeth Walter, of New Columbia; one stepdaughter, Amy Walter, of Newville; four sisters, June Lenig, of Kreamer, Nancy Walter, of New Columbia, Connie Laudenslager and her husband, Raymond, of Kreamer, and Beatrice Griffith and her husband, Larry, of Penns Creek; and his first wife, Waneeda Snyder, of Watsontown.

In addition to his parents and second wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Dale Walter Sr.; and one brother-in-law, Peter Lenig.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held privately in Penns Creek Union Cemetery.
