Linda VanBuskirk Obituary

Linda M. VanBuskirk, 71, of Lewisburg, died unexpectedly Monday, December 21, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born July 12, 1949 in Lewisburg, the daughter of the late John “Ed” and Kathryn (Zong) Heintzelman. On April 13, 1974, she married James VanBuskirk, who survives. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Lewisburg High School and a 1972 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Despite facing many health challenges throughout her adult life, she was a devoted mother and grandmother and volunteered her time for church or community organizations whenever able. For the past several years, she spent her time hunting for antique or unique items to sell in a rented spot at Street of Shops in Lewisburg, which was her passion.

She was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield.

Linda enjoyed reading and belonged to a book club. She was an accomplished vocalist and was very passionate about politics.

She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and could be seen waving her terrible towel in her living room during games. She also enjoyed University of Pittsburgh football.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Leanne VanBuskirk-Orcutt and her husband, Adam Orcutt, of Williamsport and Sara Dowd and her husband, Andrew; of Boalsburg and two grandchildren, Calvin and Luke Dowd.

A private funeral service for family and friends will be held Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield, with Pastor Zachary Woods, officiating. Please contact the family for more information. For everyone’s safety we require that all attendees adhere to the social distancing guidelines and a mask will be required.

Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
