Marlin L. Plymette

Marlin L. Plymette, 91, a longtime resident of Watsontown, died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Elmcroft of Lewisburg.

He was born September 23, 1926 in Dewart, a son of the late Elwood “Ted” and Florence (Bieber) Plymette.  On November 11, 1944 he married the former E. Marion Finck and together they celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage before her death on October 30, 2004.  On June 27, 2009, he married Shirley Artman Savidge, who preceded him in death January 31, 2011.

Marlin was a graduate of Watsontown High School.  He served honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Graffias AF-29 in the Pacific Theater of World War II.  He later retired after 31 years of being self-employed in the floor and wall covering business.

Marlin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (Delaware Run), Watsontown.

He was a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401, where he was Worshipful Master in 1969 and 2013, a member of the Warrior Run Royal Arch Chapter #246, where he served as High Priest in 1974, and a member of the Williamsport Consistory. He earned the Allied Masonic degrees and was a coroneted 33rd degree honorary member of Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

Marlin was also a member of the Warrior Run Area Fire Department as well as a member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown where he served as chaplain.

Surviving are three sons, Marlin Plymette and his wife, Jean Steininger, of Nanty Glo, Dennis Plymette and his wife, Bonnie DeWire, of Mechanicsburg, and Thomas Plymette and his wife, Jeanne Smith, of Collegeville; one brother, Max Plymette, of Watsontown; one sister, Mary Louise, of Florida; four grandchildren, Kimberly Sperling, Susan Ecks, Jeremy Plymette and Rev. Kari Rinas; seven great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Doug Savidge, Gail Falck and Diane Russell; seven step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives and parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Merle Plymette; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Plymette and Timothy Plymette.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown where a Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m.

Friends will again be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Delaware Run), 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Faron Johnson, Rev. Stuart Lengel, and Revs Kari and Joshua Rinas officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Watsontown Cemetery.
