Matthew W. Borys

Matthew W. Borys, 36, of Lewisburg, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at his home.

He was born on June 14, 1984 in Lewisburg, the son of William and Julie (Voneida) Borys, of Lewisburg.

Matthew was a life member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.

Matt was a 2003 graduate of Lewisburg High School.  He attended Methodist University for Golf Management thru 2007 and obtained an internship at Kapalua Golf -The Plantation Course in Maui, HI.

He worked at hotel and airline jobs where he enjoyed flying and traveling during his days off.  He was currently employed as a deliver service provider for Amazon.

An avid golfer, he played and worked part-time at the Bucknell Golf Club for many years.

Matthew was a fan of Penn State Football and enjoyed dogs, especially his Border Collies.

Matt had an uncanny ability to talk to just about anyone and he always loved to make people laugh.  He could be relied on for a one liner from a comedy show or funny movie to lighten the mood.

Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Anne Bodenstine and her husband, Tom, of Chicago, IL; two nephews, Adam and Owen Bodenstine, of Chicago, IL; two uncles, Dan Voneida, of  Lewisburg and Dave Voneida and his wife, Linda, of Selinsgrove; two aunts, Judy Leretsis, of Erie and Shirley Lucore and her husband, George, of The Villages, Fl; cousins, Jamie Leretsis, of Las Vegas, Andrew Voneida and his children, Blake, Lilly and Penny, of Lewisburg, Sarah Mazzone and her husband, Pat, of Erie, Laurel Stewart and her husband, Paul, of Minneapolis MN, Nic Lucore, of Anchorage, AK, Todd Voneida and his wife, Jenifer and their children, Thomas and Luke, of Selinsgrove and Ryan Voneida, of TN.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to Noon Tuesday, October 13 at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at Noon with his pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.

For everyone’s safety we ask that all attendees adhere to the social distancing guidelines and wear a mask. Services will also be available virtually for those unable to attend.

Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
