Shirley L. Thompson

Shirley L. Thompson, 89, formerly of Montgomery, died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Muncy Place.

Born October 16, 1932 in Rauchtown, she was a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Mary L. (Meckley) Phleger.  On July 19, 1950 she married Cecil W. Thompson who preceded her in death on May 26, 2003.  Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Shirley was a 1950 graduate of Jersey Shore High School.  She worked in her family business, Thompson’s Agway, Muncy, from 1959 to 1980.

She enjoyed traveling to new places with her husband, highlighted by a trip to Australia.

Surviving are two children, Bruce H. (Kathryn M.) Thompson, of Trout Run, and Gail M. (Brian M.) Rippey, of West Lawn; one sister, Dorothy P. Douty, of Williamsport; one brother, Daniel R. Phleger, of Anaheim, CA; three grandchildren, Mark D. and Michael J. Thompson, and Caryn C. Rippey; four great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, David C. Thompson; and one sister, Kathryn E. Scheid.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Oval Cemetery.
