Velma Benscoter Obituary

Velma Irene Benscoter, 82, formerly of West Milton, died on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Williamsport North Rehab and Nursing Center.

She was born January 9, 1941 in Nescopeck, a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Kitchen) Warner. 

Velma was a graduate of Nescopeck High School and later earned her Nursing degree from Danville Area School District Practical Nursing Program.  She was selected and served as a reviewer for the National Council Licensure Examination by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Inc.

She worked many years as an LPN for Riverwoods, Lewisburg and later retired from Kramm’s Nursing Home, Watsontown.

Velma was a member of the former West Milton United Methodist Church, where she actively volunteered with different activities including bake sales.

In her free time, she enjoyed baking and sewing. She spent many evenings attending sporting events of her grandchildren during their youth.  Velma most loved spending quality time with her friends and family.

Surviving are one son, David Benscoter Sr., of Watsontown; one sister-in-law, Marion Warner, of Nescopeck; three grandchildren, Larissa Martin (Steven Spohn), David Benscoter Jr. and Alexander Benscoter; and three great-grandchildren, Noah Spohn, Karsonlee Benscoter and Ember Benscoter.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Steven Benscoter; and seven brothers and sisters.

In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Contributions in Velma’s memory may be made to St. Judes Research Hospital.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble Funeral Home & Crematory, 308 Main St. Watsontown.
